An article by Deirdre Sullivan on houselogic.com examines a few ways to automatically water house plants. One method only uses normal water bottles. Fill the bottle with water and stick it in the soil upside down. Water will drain out as the soil dries. Other methods are a little more complex. They involve electronic sensors that release water when necessary. Remember KISS (keep it simple stupid)! Planter Quenchers work just like the simple water bottle trick with the extra benefit of beauty and specialized shape. The Planter Quenchers have narrow and long stems which deliver water at a more suitable depth and rate.
